Dear
Friends,
On Sunday
evening, November 16th,
Hope for Children in Vietnam (HCV)
will mark its 5th
anniversary. We invite you to join us in
celebration and to help support hundreds
of impoverished orphans and street
children in Vietnam.
Five years
ago, HCV (a US-registered public
charity) began raising money and
volunteer help from diverse Americans in
this country so that we could work
directly with community leaders in the
Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City region to help
the children. For the past five years,
we have purchased supplies in the local
Vietnamese markets for some of Vietnam's
neediest youngsters.
These
supplies include healthy food,
educational materials and medical items.
In a rented van, we personally deliver
the supplies to Buddhist orphanages,
Catholic homes and rural schools. HCV
also makes small grants to exceptionally
needy orphanages, for example, to enable
one to build a roof and another to
construct a clean, safe kitchen with an
eating area for its 30 children. We do
this work as volunteers.
Such a
personal, direct way to help is not only
cost effective (98% of money raised goes
directly to the youngsters), it is an
enlightening way to strengthen ties
between our two cultures.
Please join
us to celebrate HCV's work and
help assure a brighter future for the
children.
